Looking for help or ever looked for help with your mental wellness?
I work with a lot of people who have at some point in their life worked with a counsellor or psychotherapist, or sometimes are deciding whether to go that route or start working with me.
I too have been down that route many years ago; I’ve worked with a counsellor, a CBT therapist, a psychiatrist and a psychologist.
What is the main difference between these types of therapies and what I teach and why would I never consider that traditional type of therapy again:
Traditional types of therapy will take you into the detail of what you think about and analyse, analyse, analyse!!! It gets you into over thinking and a busy mind. I used to leave sessions exhausted, but believed it was all part of the painful process I needed to go through to get to the other side.
Work with me and you’ll go on a ‘thought diet’.
When I had CFS 10+ years ago I didn’t realise that much of the unrest in my body was exasperated by my increasingly busy, analysing mind. Now I know the power of a quiet mind and how the physical body functions so much better from that space.
Have you ever noticed the areas of your life where you struggle are where you have the most amount of thinking, analysing and beliefs? And have you noticed the areas that seem effortless you have very little thinking about?
For some it’s relationships, for some it’s parenting or health, money or work. Take your pick.
You see we live in a society where we think intellectual knowledge is the answer to everything. It’s not. When it comes to having a peaceful, loving, healthy and enjoyable life the opposite is true. When we drop what I call ‘contaminated thinking’ in those areas of our life where we struggle, then life becomes effortless.
